"Bellizia is to banjo music what Primus is to rock music." DJ Shaman Noodles
The mountains of Western North Carolina draw people of all types to Asheville, a city known for music, art and a more avant garde way of life. Bellizia is a powerhouse trio of experienced musicians who have had extensive playing, touring, and recording experience, all arriving in Asheville for various reasons. What brought them to the land of cackalacky isn’t as important as what keeps them here.
Bellizia’s members, Jhon, Jayson, & Tim blend unexpected tones, melodies and rhythms into something else, something new….a novel, yet familiar sound. Their unique musical voice cites influences from punk, metal, rock and prog with a splash of new wave and blues to create the musical gumbo of Bellizia. Think banjo, just not banjo.
The Band:
Sir Jhon's first instrument was the guitar, but he learned the drums, bass, & banjo as well.
He brings the sensibilities & stylings of the electric guitar to the banjo thus creating a style somewhere between Scruggs & Hendrix.
Bassist, Jayson Tomlin, has toured in bands ranging stylistically from zydeco to blues to punk. He also works as an audio engineer, producer, and trainer and has worked at some of the biggest studios in the world including Abbey Road, the Village, and the RAK.
Timothy Todd Cook has been banging out rhythms on the drums for as long as he can remember and logged his first stage performance at the age of 10. Most of Tim’s recording and touring has been in the metal genre, although he too has been a part of many diverse bands.
